Opening Words For Worship Service

Church worship services and bible studies are normally opened with a prayer. These examples of opening prayers for meetings, church worship and bible studies serve as the perfect examples of the type of prayers you can use at your next event.

However, I thought this discussion was about regular opening words for a church service, used as a ritual that brings the congregation together to begin the worship service. And the issue is what words will be most effective in both inspiring and bringing together a congregation that may have theologically diverse perspectives. Forgive us our lack of attention to Your Word, our failure to seek and find what we need from the source of all our joy. Help us to repent, to turn in the right direction this very moment, that we may fulfill Your commandment to love You with all that we are, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. May we indeed worship You today with all our heart.

Inhabit Our Praises Prayer
O Lord, our God, you are worthy of all our praise. You are the God who never fails to keep his promises. We thank you that in Jesus' life, death and resurrection we see your love, justice, mercy, provision and victory. You are the God who lifts up those who are weighed down. You are the God who provides for your children. Our desire is to praise you as long as we live. Inhabit our praises as we gather together today. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Sing Praises Prayer
O Lord, our Good Shepherd, you are the source of all true and lasting joy. We praise you for your power which is beyond compare. We worship you for your wisdom which is beyond understanding. how sublime and enlightening the truth,
how persuasive and strong the motives,
how powerful the assistance of your holy religion.
